Settings > Payments > Tax settings
You can set a tax to be automatically applied during the checkout process from Settings > Payments > Tax settings. The default setting is No tax. If you set a tax, it is shown and applied when a customer is making a purchase. You have two main options when adding a tax:
- Include tax in the total price — the tax is calculated within the price of the purchase and shown during the first step of the checkout process. For example, if you set a price of €100 per submission and 20% VAT, the customer sees a breakdown of €83.33 + €16.67 VAT tax totaling the €100 you’ve set.
- Add tax on top of the total price — the tax is added on top of the total price of the purchase at step 3 of the checkout process, when your customer is required to enter their billing details. For example, if you set a price of €100 per submission and 20% VAT, the total price per order will be €120.

Enable custom tax – enabling this option will open extra settings where you can specify when to apply the tax. You have the option to select your Country of operation and choose whether to apply or not apply tax to businesses and individuals in your home country and other countries, depending on applicable tax regulations. Note that if you select a Member State of the European Union you will also have the option to apply or not apply tax to businesses in the EU with and without a valid EU VAT.

IMPORTANT: Enabling custom tax makes the billing data Required to complete the purchase.
The tax is sent as a separate sum. This makes it easier to automate invoicing by connecting Evalato to an accounting app like Xero, QuickBooks, Zoho Invoice, etc. To connect to an invoicing app follow the instructions in Apps on the main menu.
IMPORTANT: The tax settings cannot be changed after sales have been made. We recommend that you check any applicable regulations with your accountant, local tax expert, or financial advisor. Note that if your applicants are based in other jurisdictions, different tax regulations may apply.
