The following article is intended to help program judges evaluate applications through Evalato’s Judging portal.
What is Evalato’s Judging portal?
Evalato’s Judging portal is where you can evaluate the entry or entries you have been assigned by the program organizer.
Logging to the Judging portal
You will receive an invitation to Evalato’s Judging portal in the email you have provided to the program organizer. The email contains:
- Login URL that will take you to the Judging portal
- Email (your email)
- Password for logging in
You can use the above information to log into the Judging portal on your personal device, including your laptop, smartphone, etc.
Voting instructions, NDA, T&C
Depending on the program’s settings as determined by the organizer, you may have to agree to terms and conditions, a non-disclosure agreement, etc. the first time you log into the Judging portal. You will be able to proceed with the evaluation process only if you accept.
Note that the respective terms or NDA will remain readily available on the Judging portal for future reference, along with any other instructions, terms and conditions, etc., the program organizer has decided to include:
- On the left side of your screen if you are using a laptop or desktop computer;
- By clicking the hamburger button at the top right side of your screen if you are using your mobile device.
Viewing entries
Depending on the program, you may be assigned one or more rounds and categories of entries to evaluate. You can view the entries you have been assigned:
- By round — you can select to view entries in a specific round if you have been assigned more than one round by making the selection on the left side of your screen on your computer or the hamburger button at the top right on your mobile device;
- By category — you can select to view entries in all the categories you have been assigned for a specific round or a single category, using the drop-down menu.
Clicking on an entry will open it for viewing and voting. You may choose to only view the entry and close it without voting.
IMPORTANT: If you see the You have not been assigned any applications message on your screen, you should contact the program organizer.
How to vote by voting type
Evalato supports 6 voting types, so depending on the choice of the program organizer, you will have one of the options listed below when voting for each voting round:
- Score voting — clicking on an entry will open up a scorecard with voting criteria where you can fill in your vote. Depending on the program settings selected by the organizer, you may also be able to decline to vote. After you vote, you will get a confirmation message that your vote has been submitted.
- Simple review — click on the entry you wish to vote for to open it. Note that depending on the program settings, you may be able to vote directly from the list without opening the entry.
- Popularity voting — click on the entry you wish to vote for to open it. Note that depending on the program settings, you may be able to vote directly from the list without opening the entry. If you have reached the limit of votes as set by the organizer, you will get a warning message.
- Points voting — click on the entry you wish to vote for to open it. Note that depending on the program settings, you may be able to vote directly from the list without opening the entry. If you have reached the limit of votes as set by the organizer, you will get a warning message.
- Positional voting — click on the entry you wish to vote for to open it. Then, select the respective position for each entry. Note that you can also vote directly from the list.
- Single transferable vote (STV) —click on the entry you wish to vote for to open it. Then, choose a rank from the drop-down menu. Note that you can also vote directly from the list.
Note that for all voting types, depending on the program settings you may also be able to leave a comment or view how other judges have voted on that entry.
Changing your vote
Note that you can change your vote at any time before the voting deadline as determined by the program organizer.
Voting progress
You can keep track of your voting progress for each voting round by checking the progress bar on the left side of your computer screen or the hamburger button at the top right side of your screen if you are using your mobile device.
Note that the system saves your voting progress even if you have not voted for all the entries you have been assigned. This gives you the option to resume voting at a later time, complete your voting in several stages, etc., as long as it is within the voting period as determined by the program organizer.
Logging out of the Judging portal
You can log out of the Judging portal at any time by clicking the Log out button on the left side of your computer screen or the hamburger button on the top right side of your screen if you are using your mobile device. You can log back in at any time before the voting deadline as determined by the program organizer, using the link and credentials from your initial program email.
