Website > Branding > Domain
You can use a vanity domain (yourprogram.evalato.com) or your own domain (yourprogram.yoursite.com) for all of your program links. Note that your program’s domain is different from your custom email address domain which you can set from Organization menu > Email addresses.
Set up vanity domain
To set up vanity domain (yourprogram.evalato.com), go to Website > Branding > Domain and press Change. The system automatically assigns you a random number Evalato sub-domain (12345.evalato.com) which you can customize with your brand or program name making it easier for your applicants to remember, access, and share it.
After pressing Change, type the name you wish to use for your vanity domain, making sure that it starts with a letter or a number, contains only letters, numbers, and dashes, and is at least six characters long. After you press Save, the system will ask you to confirm your decision.
IMPORTANT: Changing the domain of a program with live registrations could in turn change the personal registration links that customers have received already and invalidate them.
If you add a vanity domain after live registrations have already been made for the program, the original domain before the change will successfully redirect registration links to the vanity domain.
Set up custom domain
To set up custom domain (yourprogram.yoursite.com), go to Website > Branding > Domain and press Change. The system automatically assigns you a random number Evalato sub-domain (12345.evalato.com) which you can customize making it easier for your applicants to remember, access, and share it.
After pressing Change, enter the provided information as a new DNS record in your own domain. This allows the system to validate the domain. After you've added the provided CNAME records, press the Verify button to see the new URL for your program - once validated, your program’s links will start using your own custom domain, including the judging and applicant portals.
IMPORTANT: Please, keep in mind that the validation usually takes less than 20 minutes, but in some cases might take up to 48 hours. Note that if domain validation takes more than 48 hours, you have to delete it and start over.
IMPORTANT: Changing the subdomain in Evalato of a program with live registrations is not recommended, as it would invalidate the links that applicants have already received in their emails.
IMPORTANT: If you add a custom domain after live registrations have been made already for the program, the original domain before the change and the last used vanity domain (if applicable), will successfully redirect registration links to the custom domain. Registrations made with vanity domains other than the original/default and the last vanity domain, won't be able to redirect successfully to the custom domain.
